Giuseppe Migneco (Messina, 1908 - Milan, 1997) – "Fisherman", 1961. Oil on canvas, size 40x50 cm, dated 1961. The composition, attributable to social realism of which the artist was a pioneer, depicts a fisherman dozing on a pebbled shoreline with vivid chromaticism and strong geometric forms. On the reverse is the artist’s signature followed by the year of execution, "G. Migneco 1961", applied with a brush. The provenance is confirmed by the certificate on photograph stamped by the Giuseppe Migneco General Catalogue (Bonaparte - Milan) with Repertory No. 3420. The painting is historically documented and published in the General Catalogue Volume IV under no. 3420, p. 112 - ref. Q3
