The engraving illustrates a particularly spectacular moment, one in which the bullfighter practice the jump with a pole
called "garrocha". It is an exercise in agility and acrobatic skill that wows audiences,
represented in the background. The iconographic reference is traceable in the famous print of Bullfighting
Goya (1816): Agility and audacity of Juanito Apiani arena in Madrid.
