Gili - Ediciones La Cometa, Barcelona 1959

The book, of which this is the title drypoint, had been commissioned from Picasso by the publisher Gustavo
Gili of Barcelona in 1927 for his collection of bibliophile: "Ediciones de La Cometa." The son of the publisher,
in 1956, he returned to urge Picasso, to bring out the project and, in 1959, he came to the current edition
Barcelona. This title has been made by the Spanish Master simultaneously with the publication of the
text, in 1959, while other illustrative engravings date back two years earlier. In this title Picasso ago
allusion to the name of the publishing house "Ediciones de la Cometa" through recourse to the image of a comet,
term that translated into Italian from Spanish means "kite". The kite wires, which appears in the upper

of some mountains. In the foreground you see the title of the book in Spanish, "Tauromaquia", and - under the word - the
Profile of a bull in the running on the words "Ediciones Of [the" d "and" e "are in Outline] Comet".
