A North Italian walnut, burr walnut, and maple wood crossbanded and featherbanded commode, Veneto, mid-18th century

of arbalète form, the shaped top inlaid with geometric design of maple wood above two paneled short drawers above two long drawers inlaid similarly to the top, flanked by inlaid canted corners, the sides opening to reveal a door and paneled with recessed-corner panels inlaid similarly to the front drawers, the undulating apron with matching side aprons centred by a pierced rocaille, on squat cabriole legs ending in arched feet; original handles and escutcheons
high 35 ½, wide 54 ¼, deep 24in.

A Venetian gilt-wood carved mirror, mid-18th century

the antique mercury rectangular plate within a moulded frame carved with repeated reserves of stylized flowers, leaves, and clasps en bas relief on a stippled ground offset by embossed reserves, the inner border carved with an egg-and-dart pattern and the edge with a denticulated one; missing carved cresting and pierced scrolled corner brackets; plate replaced
