the beaded edge and the abutting egg-and-dart border enclosing a carved gilt-wood and lacquered cushion frame carved en haut relief with a repeated foliate motif in pastiglia, the foliate carved inner border enclosing the original antique mercury rectangular plate; the whole surmounted by a gilt-wood and lacquered pierced cresting with rocailles, C-scrolls interspersed with flowery ornaments terminating in an articulated cartouche with trailing flowers, the cresting gilt corner birds supporting flowery festoons
