A North Italian engraved ivory-inlaid walnut bureau Mazarin, Piedmont, last quarter 17th century
decorated overall with engraved ivory inlays, the inverted breakfront superstructure with six small drawers, two in the centre and two on either side en pendant, inlaid with foliage, flowers, and mythical beasts, the moulded top centered by a rhomboid-shaped engraving flanked on either side by similarly inlaid roundels, above a frieze drawer and a recessed, convex-shaped door, the central knee-hole flanked by a further three bow-fronted drawers on each side, on eight baluster tapering legs joined by X-shaped stretchers topped by a small urn-like finial, on bun feet; finials and buns replaced
